It’s annoying me that everyone is mispronouncing Lehman Brothers. Are there Mennonites out there that actually pronounce it Lee-mehn? I’ve only ever heard it as Lay-mehn. Is there some sort of Mennonite-only pronunciation? Was the original Lehman Brother Mennonite?

Menno roundup: In the brave new world, I will turn my Amish oak furniture into kindling
October 5th, 2008 · No Comments
The Amish will show us how to harness the sun’s power for our new, credit-less life. They will sell us solar panels instead of quilts and oak furniture.
People still hating on the Mennonites for the whole “let’s break bread with Iran” thing. They are even dissing Ten Thousand Villages! I would hate to see the [...]

Where have all the Mennonites gone?
September 22nd, 2008 · 14 Comments
Back when The Mennonite used to be called The Gospel Herald, they published an occasional column called “Why I’m a Mennonite” (or something like that) where non-cradle Mennonites talked about what drew them to the Mennonite church.
It was a way to pat ourselves on the back, a little self-congratulatory and just falling on the good [...]

Five Mennonite athletes who may or may not be famous
August 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Inspired by the Olympics. I’m sure there are others. There are others, right? And I’m realize that I’m stretching the definitions of famous. And also stretching the definition of Mennonite. But because there no trampolinists or golfers, I have not stretched the definition of athlete. I kid. I kid!

I went to this MCC sale and I have to tell you that the doughnuts were great!
New York Times manages to mention the Amish without actually showing a picture of them. This is not normal.
Trust me, politicians are fully aware of the Amish. He must have missed this story.

Menno roundup: Seth Green, hot Amish gay
August 10th, 2008 · No Comments
Why does the press only love the Amish? Where are the Mennonite stories? Where?
Seth Green plays Amish gay in new film? (You cannot believe how happy I get writing “Seth Green,
“gay” and “Amish” in the same sentence.)
Amish crime lit gets a review in the New York Times; apparently he writes Amish better than English
Owners of [...]
