Two steps forward, one scantily-dressed step back

May 18th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Whatever ...

Step one: A 12-year-old girl pitches a perfect game for her Little League baseball team — their first perfect game ever. She got to throw the first pitch at the Mets/Nats matchup last month.  At this point, the Nats are scouting her because, frankly, she’s better than anything in their bullpen.

Step two: A filly (that’s a girl horse) wins the Preakness (that’s a major horse race) — for the first time in 85 years.  85 years!  And this one won on the very first time she raced against boys.

Rachel Alexandra … wasn’t even supposed to be in the Preakness. Her original owners, who named the filly after a 13-year-old granddaughter, didn’t nominate her to the Triple Crown races, believing fillies should run only against their own gender.

Step three: Lingerie football league.  Coming soon to a major arena near you.  God.  Sometimes, we really our own worst enemies.
