And it breaks my heart when it breaks my heart

February 12th, 2009 · 4 Comments · Whatever ...

Feel like having your heart rip apart a little today?  Then watch this:

Whether you thought that California was right or wrong to legalize gay marriage, whether you would have voted for Prop 8 or against it, surely you can agree that it would be the epitome of wrong for the state to dissolve those marriages that did occur.

If those relationships are going to die, let them die on their own like the straights and the non-marrieds, full of apathy or anger or guilt or emotional coldness or cheating or whatever. And the ones that won’t die — that will survive and flourish and be good for a good long time — well, let them do so.

Amusing that the “family-friendly” thing to do is force a divorce. How are people blind enough to even consider this a tenable position?

But we have been warned where this would lead. Next people will be wanting to marry their dogs, then people will feel they have the right to marry plant matter, like trees and of course, it would then lead to the “right” to marry inanimate objects. I have a friend that slightly prays every night that he be given the opportunity to marry his Xbox 360. Helen Lovejoy put it best, “Think of the children! Oh, won’t somebody please think of the children!”

It’s an outrage. If we err, we must err on the side of love. It may be a bit sentimental, but if this isn’t a heart-breaker, I can’t think what is.
