Ashley Dupree is doing the traditional media walk of shame these days with appearances on 20/20, Good Morning America, yada, yada, yada.

We will all marvel; we will all sigh; we will all shake our heads at the slightly creepy intersection of politics and sex; we will all laugh at her desire to become a star; we will all wonder at the incredibly bad choices she made with her life.

But let’s make one thing clear.  Nightline introduced the 20/20 segment by saying she was “the women who brought down the governor of New York.”  So wrong. She did not bring down the governor of New York.  She was a paid escort doing her job.  She wasn’t some Mati Hari trading sex for state secrets or Delilah cutting of Samson’s (metaphorical) hair.

He called the escort service.  He transported her over state lines.  He brought down himself. She just happened to get caught in the draft.
