I just saw Patti Lupone in Gypsy on Broadway surrounded by tourists, theatre groupies (who were comparing the last 10 shows they had seen with each other) and people from Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey. It felt like an ultimate New York experience but honestly, probably most New Yorkers avoid this stuff like the plague.
On a related note, I don’t think there is anything as surreal in all of America as Times Square at 11pm on a Wednesday night. It’s almost an out-of-body experience. And it’s impossible to describe.

There’s nothing like embracing the tourist in you and catching some broadway while your in the Big Apple.
