Make sure to tune into Jezebel’s Fine Lines on Friday (usually around 3:00-ish) when they will discuss one of the greatest, most wonderful books ever. I am referring, of course, to Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time.

How great was it? Go now and get a copy. It’s a quick read. But oh, it’s good.

“You see ,” Mrs. Whatsit said, “if a very small insect were to move from the section of skirt in Mrs. Who’s right hand to that in her left, it would be quite a long walk for him if he had to walk straight across.”

Swiftly Mrs. Who brought her hands, still holding the skirt, together. “Now, you see,” Mrs. Whatsit said, “he would be there, without that long trip. That is how we travel.” ….

“In other words, to put it into Euclid, or old-fashioned plane geometry, a straight line is not the shortest distance between two points.”

I loved this book as well. I’m thinking it’s about time to reread the Time Quintet too (though I’ll skip An Acceptable Time).

I was actually thinking of making it a summer project to reread all of her stuff. I remember really liking the “Meet the Austins” but can’t hardly remember anything about them (other than a guy named Zach who I thought was really great and she should so end up with but instead she ended up with someone else I think?).
