I remember arguing with my Sunday School teacher when I was around 6th grade or so that someday men would be able to have babies.
I can’t remember if I had already read The Left Hand of Darkness at that point and I don’t think I had even heard the word transgender. I mean, hello! Rural Iowa in the 80s and 90s? Trust me, not a lot of discussion on sex vs. gender, biology vs. social construct.
I’m pleased, however, to be able to say hah! I was right.
And honestly, I think it’s kind of cool. Sometime, I’ll have to blog on other sci-fi-ish things that 20 years ago or more we thought would never happen but have. Or things that we think now won’t ever happen …. but might.

Not a complete non-sequiter but… I’m going to go against everything I ever read as a child, and every current article that attempts to predict what the future will be like and say that there will never be flying cars in widespread use.
Bold, bold statement there … and I was really hoping for a cool, Fifth element car thing in my future.
Re: reproductive health rights and the future . . .
I hope someday I can be a part of a world where 6th graders (male or female or transgender) don’t have babies.
